President Biden tells cancer survivors "don't jump" during speech at JFK Library

President Joe Biden's gaffes are often a source of amusement. However, what he had to say to cancer survivors was truly horrifying despite the promises he made them.

Biden said "don't jump" to the cancer survivors and others listening to his speech from the balcony at the JFK Library in Museum in Boston Monday, Breitbart reported. The president said this while touting his so-called "cancer moonshot program" for a cure he started in 2016.

"I want to thank all of you. The cancer patients, survivors, caregivers," Biden said. "And don't jump from up there, okay?" he said to the people on the balcony level.

The president was delivering a speech about the program that is meant to accelerate the search for a cure for cancer. He used the "moonshot" term to echo President John F. Kennedy's speech sharing his vision to send an American to the moon and home safely again by the end of the decade.

Although Kennedy would be assassinated before seeing his dream become a reality, America successfully completed the moon landing and safe return on July 20, 1969. Monday marked the sixtieth anniversary of the famous speech that launched the program.

"I believe that we can usher in the same unwillingness to postpone, the same national purpose … to end cancer as we know it and even cure cancers once and for all," Biden said in his comparison. He began the program after his son Beau Biden died from cancer.

"I give you my word as a Biden, this cancer moonshot is one of the reasons why I ran for president," he said. Biden added that his role as president would serve to make the program "supercharged."

Although a cure for cancer hasn't come just yet, many advances have led to better survival rates than ever. It's unclear what Biden will add to the research effort, but based on his callous joke, it's certain that he has no part in raising morale.
