President Biden loses two senior officials in a matter of weeks

It's not surprising that some of President Joe Biden's top staffers and officials are calling it quits. Who would want this administration on their resume?

The most recent departure is Remi Yamamoto, a "day one" senior adviser to the president. In a statement to CNN, President Biden called Yamamoto "unflinchingly loyal," though her departure indicates otherwise.

"From the very start of the campaign, Remi has been unflinchingly loyal and extraordinarily capable,” Biden's statement read. “Her insights, good humor, and work ethic have been an incredible asset to all of us, and I am grateful for her service and friendship.”

"Remi Yamamoto, 30, was a rare outsider among Biden's senior staff, according to CNN. The majority of the staff were people who had been close to Biden for years. Yamamoto served as senior adviser for communications to White House chief of staff Ron Klain," the Washington Examiner tweeted.

The CNN report added:

Yamamoto served in communications roles in several Democratic political campaigns before joining Biden’s team in April 2019, bringing some rare external views into a Biden operation defined by advisers that had been with the former vice president for years and, in some cases, decades.

"She really internalized who President Biden is and what the campaign was about," said senior White House adviser Mike Donilon. "There’s a DNA in this place that comes from what it took to get here."

Prior to Yamamoto's exit, just a few weeks ago Biden lost another heavy hitter in his administration, former White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield.

Biden's White House praised Bedingfield in a statement upon her departure.

"Bedingfield, who served as then-Vice President Joe Biden’s communications director in 2015-2016 and then as Deputy Campaign Manager for his successful 2020 presidential race, has played an integral role in the successes of the first two years of the Biden-Harris Administration, from the American Rescue Plan through the Inflation Reduction Act," the statement read.

"'Since my time as Vice President, Kate has been a loyal and trusted adviser, through thick and thin,' said President Biden. 'She was a critical strategic voice from the very first day of my presidential campaign in 2019 and has been a key part of advancing my agenda in the White House. The country is better off as a result of her hard work and I’m so grateful to her – and to her husband and two young children – for giving so much.'"

Several other high-ranking White House staffers, like former chief of staff Ron Klain, hit the road over the past few months.

Many additional Bide White House departures are rumored to happen by the end of 2023.

Perhaps they're searching for new opportunities, or perhaps they're ready to get out while they can before things get even more ugly than they already are. Only time will tell.
