Pop star drummer Aaron Spears dead at 47

Popular drummer Aaron Spears has died at the age of 47, according to his family.

His wife Jessica Spears shared the news of his passing, leading to tributes from a wide range of celebrity artists he had performed with during his career.

The statement

“Aaron was not only an incredibly accomplished drummer, admired by many for his unparalleled talent and passion for music, but he was also a devoted father to our precious son, August,” Jessica wrote to Instagram.

“His love, guidance, and warmth were the pillars of our family, and his absence leaves a void that words cannot describe,” she said.

A Grammy-nominated producer

"In 2004, he earned a Grammy nomination as a producer for Usher’s album 'Confessions,' which sold more than 15 million copies worldwide," the New York Times reported.

"The next year, Mr. Spears drummed during the Grammys for a medley of Usher’s 'Caught Up' and James Brown’s 'Sex Machine,' a performance that made the drumming community take notice," it continued.

Friends of top artists

"Ariana Grande’s long-time drummer & one of her closest friends, Aaron Spears, sadly passed away at age of 47," another report noted.

"He worked with Ariana on the Dangerous Woman & Sweetener Tour, on Positions & Yours Truly Live Performances," it stated.

“I am so honored and thankful that our paths crossed and to have spent so much very special time together. Thank you for your utter brilliance, for our laughs, and for your kindness always. I will miss your hugs. You are so, so loved and will be so very missed,” Grande wrote on his wife's Instagram post.

Spears also played alongside Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne, among other major names in his background.

His cause of death was not noted in the announcement. He leaves behind a wife and one son, August, following his tragic passing that has led to strong response and support from fans and celebrities who have worked with him over the past two decades.
