Only months into President Joe Biden’s administration, it’s already clear that he’s bungling every issue he touches. The public is starting to notice too — especially when it comes to China.
A majority of Americans disapprove of the way Biden is handling America’s relationship with China, Breitbart reported. Many also believe that the communist nation is responsible for the COVID-19 outbreak, positing that it escaped a Wuhan gain-of-function lab — a theory that has compelling evidence to back it.
The Fox News poll indicated that 54% disapprove of his handling of China while only 39% approved it. However, the strongest showing was the 60% who believed the coronavirus “was created by scientists in China and leaked from their laboratory.”
This opinion comes in anticipation of a new book containing evidence that Dr. Anthony Fauci resisted former President Donald Trump’s efforts to withdraw a grant from the Wuhan, China lab where many believe the pandemic emerged from. The book, “Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration’s Response to the Pandemic That Changed History,” was written by two Washington Post reporters.
The book outlines how Fauci was unwilling to comply with the White House directive to cancel a grant that funded gain of function research — even as new information was emerging about the origins of the novel coronavirus, according to Fox News. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) had also grilled Fauci on his knowledge of the nature of the Wuhan lab’s research, a claim which Fauci denied.
Though the book asserts Fauci had direct knowledge of the grant’s purpose, he claimed in a June 2020 at a House Energy & Commerce Hearing that he had no idea why the grant was to be terminated. “Why was it canceled? It was canceled because the NIH was told to cancel it,” Fauci said then. “I don’t know the reason, but we were told to cancel it.”
Although early rumblings of a Wuhan lab leak were dismissed as xenophobic, new evidence suggests that several lab workers were hospitalized for illnesses consistent with COVID-19 as far back as November 2019, The Hill reported. Now the U.S. is leading a probe to find out more about what happened.
Unfortunately, Biden hasn’t been as tough on China as his predecessor, former President Donald Trump. If it’s true that the virus that has caused worldwide death and suffering escaped from a lab there, China must pay — but there’s little chance of that happening as long as Biden is in office.
