Poll: Overwhelming majority say Kamala Harris is failing her ‘border czar’ job

As tens of thousands more Haitian migrants make their way to the U.S., a new poll has revealed that the majority of likely general election voters – including Democrats – believe that Vice President Kamala Harris is performing poorly in her role as the Biden administration’s point person for the border crisis, as Breitbart reports.

According to the Convention of States Action/Trafalgar Group study released on Thursday, 74.9% of voters who were asked about Harris’ handling of the role given to her by President Joe Biden back in March gave her a rating of “poor.”

The survey revealed that 12.8% of respondents characterized her performance on the border as “excellent,” 6.4% labeled it “good,” with another 5.9% describing it as “fair.”

Considering Harris’ well-known political aspirations beyond her stint as Biden’s second in command and her assumed status as the left’s heir apparent, the fact that the poll showed that a majority of Democrats affixed the rating of “poor” to her work on the border crisis is surely cause for great concern among the progressive hierarchy.

Harris’ inaction on the border crisis despite ever-worsening conditions on the ground in affected areas has been the subject of intense criticism throughout the past several months, with a group of 56 House Republicans this summer formally asking Biden to relieve her of these critical responsibilities, as Fox News reported at the time.

The GOP lawmakers blasted the fact that, in their estimation, Harris had not “shown adequate interest” in truly addressing a situation of a severity “this country has not seen in two decades,” and they slammed the vice president’s insistence on attempting to re-frame her duties to focus on the so-called “root causes” of mass migration from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.

Noting that “the exclusive focus on Central American countries ignores the fact that we see many migrants attempting to illegally cross our southern border from countries all over the world, including Russia, Brazil, Cuba and Haiti,” the legislators demanded Harris be replaced by someone willing to tackle the crisis head-on.

In the wake of a surge of Haitian migrants that recently overwhelmed the Texas border town of Del Rio comes news that new caravans containing tens of thousands more arrivals are headed north, a fact which is causing state and local authorities to scramble already-scarce resources ahead of the onslaught.

With Biden’s own approval rating on the border plummeting to a shocking 23%, it is clear that voters have had enough with the administration’s open borders policy, and while those on the inside of the Democrat Party may realize the precarious future they face as a result, those worries have yet to prompt a much-needed course correction from the White House.
