Poll finds fewer Americans believe in vaccine or mandates than two months ago

A new Fox News poll showed 58 percent of Americans believe the COVID-19 is safe, down from 65 percent in September.

The drop changed the most among Democrats and Independents, though 76 percent of Democrats still believe the vaccine is safe.

Numbers dropped significantly when asking if the vaccine is safe for children. Just 45 percent agree the COVID-19 vaccine was safe for children ages 5-11.

The agreement regarding vaccine mandates was nearly evenly split. The poll showed 49 percent favor vaccine mandates or testing for large businesses, though the number was lower than the 56 percent from September.

Respondents were also divided on President Joe Biden’s response to the pandemic. Nearly half, 49 percent, disapproved of the president’s handling of the pandemic, with 48 percent approving.

Again, the numbers were lower than two months ago. In the September poll, 64 percent approved of Biden’s handling of the pandemic.

The poll was conducted Nov. 14-17 by Beacon Research and Shaw & Co. Research. The poll’s results included 1,003 randomly selected registered voters nationwide and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

The poll revealed the deeply divided views of the nation, as well as the controversies related to children and the COVID-19 vaccines as Americans seek to return to the holidays with more travel and traditional visits than in the pandemic-stricken 2020.
