President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election because the media hammered and blamed former President Donald Trump. Now voters may be realizing choosing Biden was a mistake.
Biden’s disapproval rating reached 51% Monday, according to Breitbart. A Rasmussen Reports poll found that many are unhappy with him because of the crisis at the border.
The poll, published April 5, also found he had a 47% approval rating. However, the more significant story is that his disapproval numbers have climbed by two points since March 31.
It was worse for him on a Morning Consult/Politico poll which reported an eight-point increase since mid-march of those who said they disapproved of his handling of the immigration issue. His approval of the issue in the same poll dropped six points during the same time.
There has been a massive influx of illegal immigrants arriving at the southern border that has overwhelmed the immigration system, The Hill reported. Over 171,000 migrants were apprehended in March, a record monthly total since 2006. Of that, 18,800 were unaccompanied minors.
To try to manage the problem, Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge, but she has yet to offer any solution or help at all so far. Many migrants have flooded the border in the hopes that the new administration, which is outwardly more permissive to illegal immigration, would simply let them in.
They have good reason to believe it; even as the administration gives half-hearted messages not to come just yet, many migrants are still let in, Reuters reported. Some are let into the interior of the U.S. while they await asylum hearings, leaving little to deter more people from trying it.
Trump was seen as xenophobic and hostile to illegal immigrants. Although those characterizations were untrue, they at least served as a deterrent. Now, facilities are being crammed and crowded as people continue to pour in with the hopes that the country will be open to them.
