Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Zach Pascal robbed at gunpoint in Maryland

Fox News reports that a National Football League (NFL) player was recently robbed at gunpoint.

The victim is 28-year-old Zach Pascal, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, at around 2:25 a.m. It took place in the 5300 block of Manor Drive, located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, which is where Pascal was both born and raised.

The local ABC6 reports:

Police in Prince George's County said two robbers approached Pascal early Friday morning, pointed a gun at him and took his diamond necklace.

Pascal did receive injuries during the incident that are being described as minor. It is reported that he was able to be treated for these injuries at the scene of the robbery.

Thus far, it does not appear as though police have been able to identify the two suspects. Authorities are reported to be searching for them.

Pascal has not made any public comment on the matter. But, he has spoken with his team, the Philadelphia Eagles, about it, and the Eagles have released a statement of their own.

"The organization is aware of the matter involving Zach Pascal," the Eagles said. "We have been in contact with Zach and are happy to hear he is doing fine."

Pascal attended Wise High School, located in Upper Marlboro, before going on to play college football at Old Dominion University. By the end of his time with Old Dominion, he would become the university's all-time leading receiver.

Pascal would go on to enter the NFL in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. And, he just completed his fifth season in the league.

Sports Illustrated reports:

[In his fifth season in the NFL, Pascal] logged 15 catches for 150 yards in 17 games this past regular season and recorded two catches for 11 yards in the Eagles’ 38–37 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.

According to Breitbart News, many on social media were not surprised by the fact that Pascal was the victim of a robbery. These individuals pointed to the fact that crime is up across the country.

Breitbart, in its report, references multiple polls. One of those polls, from Gallup, showed that "Americans are more likely now than at any time over the past five decades to say there is more crime in their local area than there was a year ago."

In another poll, from Harvard/Harris, 64% of participants pinned the blame for the rise in crime on "woke politicians."
