Pete Buttigieg under fire for heavy use of taxpayer-funded private jets

Former small-town Indiana mayor and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg might have found himself in a pickle regarding using taxpayer-funded private jets.

Buttigieg, who happens to claim to be an eco-warrior of sorts, seems to very much enjoy luxury rides on planes that we're all paying for, even though his predecessor, Elaine Chao, took a lot of heat for doing the same.

Despite his calls to cut carbon emissions, which he's proven now is clearly nothing more than a trendy virtue signal, Buttigieg apparently hates flying commercial.

The data regarding his usage of private jets came via Americans for Public Trust (APT) in an exclusive Fox News report.

The data

Racking up tons of frequent private flyer miles, Buttigieg has crisscrossed the country in style.

Fox noted: "Buttigieg has traveled across the country — visiting Florida, Ohio, and New Hampshire, among other states — and out of the country using a private jet fleet managed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), according to flight tracking data reviewed by Fox News Digital."

It added: "The flight records align with Buttigieg's schedule of external and public engagements obtained by government watchdog group Americans for Public Trust (APT)."

So far, there haven't been any damaging reports from the legacy mainstream media regarding his private jet usage. However, the same outlets were ridiculously quick to criticize Trump-appointed Chao for taking less than half as many flights on the taxpayer's dime.

Even worse, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, who served former President Donald Trump, was eventually forced to resign for taking 26 private flights -- a number not far from Buttigieg's current total.

The situation at the time was so frenzied that Democrats on the House Oversight and Reform Committee were planning to investigate Price's high usage of private flights.

APT hits hard

The organization that dug up the data on Buttigieg slammed the Transpo secretary for mismanaging the struggling U.S. airline industry.

"Everyday Americans face flight [cancellations] and long wait times because Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has completely mismanaged air travel," APT executive director Caitlin Sutherland said.

She added: "Yet, he gets to avoid all that by taking taxpayer-funded private jets to destinations with readily available commercial airline options."

Only time will tell, but if House Republicans come through on their promises to dig in and investigate all the wrongdoings in the Biden administration, Buttigieg might have problems to deal with next year.
