Pelosi claims she never attacked GOP colleagues as the ‘enemy’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) denied accusing Republican lawmakers as being a threat to other members of Congress on Monday, despite evidence to the contrary exposing her misrepresentation of the facts for all to see.

Pelosi referring to her GOP colleagues as “the enemy within the House” as justification for forcing them to submit to metal detector scans before entering the House floor just weeks ago — but she wants you to forget all that and move on.

The metal detectors and other safety measures have been added to the U.S. Capitol following the Jan. 6 riots during which numerous supporters of a nearby Trump rally entered the building to dispute the Electoral College certification of President Joe Biden.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CA) has argued the metal detectors unfairly target Second Amendment advocates. She and other GOP House members have argued for the right to carry arms at the U.S. Capitol.

Pelosi’s past comments contradict her current statement. During a Jan. 28 press conference, the House Speaker stated the safety measures were “for security for members, when the enemy is within the House of Representatives, a threat that members are concerned about, in addition to what is happening outside.”

“We have members of Congress who want to bring guns on the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress,” Pelosi added.

When asked at that time for details, Pelosi added, “It means we have members of Congress who want to bring guns on the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress.”

Republican members can legally carry licensed firearms at the Capitol, though they are prohibited in the House chamber. Boebert has declared she will carry her Glock around D.C. and on the Hill.

It’s a sad day for the nation when Pelosi believes GOP House members must be screened for weapons before entering the chamber. The restriction includes in a memo, “failure to complete screening or the carrying of prohibited items could result in denial of access to the chamber.”

Pelosi may claim she has never accused conservatives of being a threat, but her past comments tell a different story.
