National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci has been targeted by Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who both suggested this week that Fauci’s recently leaked email correspondence could lead to criminal charges for the embattled physician.
“The utter fraudulence of Tony Fauci is obvious now and it’s widely acknowledged, but it was not always obvious. In March of last year, we interviewed Fauci on this show,” Carlson said during his Wednesday television program.
“We treated him with respect. We took his answer seriously,” he added.
Carlson then attacked Fauci, stating, “We’re Americans, so we assumed the man in charge of protecting the U.S. from COVID must be rational and impressive.
“We also assumed he must be honest, but we were wrong. It soon became clear that Tony Fauci was just another sleazy Federal bureaucrat, deeply political, and often dishonest.”
Regarding the lab leak of COVID-19, Fauci said in on CNN, “You can misconstrue it however you want — that email was from a person to me saying ‘thank you’ for whatever it is he thought I said, and I said that I think the most likely origin is a jumping of species. I still do think it is, at the same time as I’m keeping an open mind that it might be a lab leak.”
Fauci emails also addressed concerns with mask. He wrote in a February 2020 email, “Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection.”
Fauci’s emails certainly give readers reasons for concern, but time will tell whether they will lead to a more serious investigation.
