One person injured after package explosion in Boston

One person was injured on Tuesday when a package exploded after being opened in Boston near Northeastern University.

The package was opened by a staff member of the school with one person taken to the hospital.

"The single injury, a staff member, 'suffered minor injuries and is being treated' at a local hospital, Shannon Nargi, a university spokeswoman said in a statement emailed to CNN," the Washington Examiner reported.

"The Boston Police bomb squad and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in investigating the incident. Authorities are looking for a suspect and official said they have found a note, an NBC News reporter tweeted," it added.

Students in the building where the package was opened were evacuated after the explosion. The building was reportedly not seriously damaged.

The concerning package is being investigated as the safety issue poses concerns to the campus, community and nation. The investigation includes the FBI as well as local police.
