Oklahoma Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a bill on Wednesday that bans biological males from competing in women’s sports, adding to a growing number of states that enacted similar bills in recent months.
The “Save Women’s Sports Act” limits biological males from competing in female sports in the state’s K-12 grade sports programs.

“This bill, the Save Women’s Sports Act, to us in Oklahoma is just common sense,” Stitt said, according to Breitbart News.
“When it comes to sports and athletics, girls should compete against girls. Boys should compete against boys. And let’s be very clear: That’s all this bill says,” he added.

Civil rights groups criticized the new law as targeting transgender athletes.
“Transgender people belong everywhere, but with the swipe of a pen and a public display, Gov. Stitt has sent a clear message to Oklahoma’s vulnerable transgender youth that they are not welcome or accepted in our state,” Tamya Cox-Toure, the executive director of the Oklahoma chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, said.
“Ultimately, SB2 violates the United States Constitution and federal civil rights law, puts Oklahoma at risk of losing federal funding, and harms transgender youth, all to solve a problem that does not exist,” Cox-Toure added.
