Ohio Supreme Court suspends judge over 'unprecedented' actions

The Ohio Supreme Court suspended a Cleveland judge for unprecedented actions that included falsifying court records and wearing inappropriate clothing in court.

Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Pinkey Carr (D) was removed temporarily on Tuesday over her ongoing actions.

"Carr's unprecedented misconduct involved more than 100 stipulated incidents that occurred over a period of approximately two years and encompassed repeated acts of dishonesty; the blatant and systematic disregard of due process, the law, court orders, and local rules; the disrespectful treatment of court staff and litigants; and the abuse of capias warrants and the court's contempt power," the Supreme Court opinion said.

"That misconduct warrants an indefinite suspension from the practice of law," it added.

The odd behaviors have taken place over the past two years. Carr has apologized for her actions and it is unclear what she will do next.

The new ruling is an extreme measure and one that many in Ohio hope will return the order to the courts.
