Obama heads to Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin to campaign for Democrats ahead of midterms

With less than a month until election day, former President Barack Obama will work to support Democratic candidates in states that might make or break their chances.

According to The Washington Times, Obama will visit states like Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin where there are crucial senate and governors' races that might tilt the balance in favor of Democrats in the upper house.

On October 28, the former president will be in Atlanta to support Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, who is being challenged by a Republican, and Stacey Abrams, a contender for governor.

The next day, he will travel to Michigan to support Wisconsin Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes in her bid to oust Republican Sen. Ron Johnson and to Michigan to support Governor Gretchen Whitmer in her bid for reelection.

Democrats, according to Obama, should emphasize their accomplishments, such as the passage of a tax and climate plan that aims to reduce inflation and healthcare costs. He also referred to the significant gun control measures that was approved by Congress and made law earlier this year.

“The great thing that I think we have going for us is that even with really slim majorities, what we’ve shown is that we can deliver,” Mr. Obama said in an interview this week on the liberal podcast, Pod Save America, which is hosted by his former White House aides.

In a year that is regarded as being favorable for the GOP, Democrats are attempting to highlight their achievements while holding the White House and Congress.

The party wants to break the 50-50 balance in the Senate by taking advantage of increased voter turnout and winning two seats. Additionally, they get the chance to renovate a Michigan state building.
