Nuclear energy executive: Left knows green energy push a 'failure'

Though the purported imperative to transition the world's economy to one powered by green energy has been a left-wing linchpin for decades, according to Scott Melbye, head of Uranium Royalty Corp., even its loudest Democrat boosters now know that the push to accomplish that very ambitious goal has been nothing but a "colossal failure," as Breitbart reports.

Melbye's comments came during an interview with Breitbart News Saturday with host Matthew Boyle, a conversation in which the former outlined many of the ways in which progressive tunnel vision with regard to environmental policies has put entire nations on the brink of collapse.

In support of his overriding thesis, Melbye pointed to the recent shift in opinion declared by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, to whom countless world leaders have – astoundingly – deferred on issues pertaining to climate change.

As the Associated Press noted, Thunberg recently declared that it would be "a mistake" if Germany were to decommission its nuclear power plants if doing so would result in more coal being burned, a stance most environmentalists would have been loathe to entertain in the past.

In Melbye's estimation, Thunberg's newly stated position amounts to an admission that countries are simply unable to operate on green energy alone, given its cost as well as its unreliability, as Breitbart pointed out.

"When you have the poster child of the progressive left come out and acknowledge that nuclear energy is an important part of the energy mix, I think you now have the left realizing what we have all seen with our very own eyes is that this transition to green energy has been a colossal failure," Melbye said.

"It's been a failure because it's relied more on ideology," he added. "This idea that renewables that run only 30 percent of the time can run our electricity is insane."

Even worse, according to Melbye, is the fact that the single-minded focus on green energy pursued by many European countries has resulted in decreased national security as well as massive economic strain on the citizenry, particularly in nations that became dependent on Russian natural gas supplies, made volatile by that country's war with Ukraine.

Here at home, Melbye believes that nuclear energy is a path that must gain wider acceptance and that increased domestic – and thus more environmentally friendly – natural resource mining must occur, but whether politicians in sufficient number – including those on the left – will ultimately share his viewpoint, only time will tell.
