Notorious “Never-Trumper” Adam Kinzinger promises he will “move heaven and earth” to stop Trump in 2024

Many Republicans have made a name for themselves by joining the chorus of former President Donald Trump’s detractors. With a 2024 presidential run a real possibility, the anti-Trump rhetoric is ramping up.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said that he and “many” others would “move heaven and earth” to keep Trump out of the Oval Office, Breitbart reported. Kinzinger made these remarks on CNN’s “Newsroom” on Thursday.

Jim Sciutto noted that Kinzinger was one of the Republicans being talked about for the 2024 presidential nomination and asked how he thought the process would go. “We saw steps in 2020 where the GOP closed the path to challenges. Do you believe that will happen again, or will you get a shot?” Sciutto asked.

“I don’t know if I’m interested in it,” Kinzinger replied. “It is not something I’m pursuing. I want our party to be better. I want our country to be better,” Kinzinger added. “In terms of, yeah, I think somebody will carry the torch of what I call actually pro-American Republicanism,” he said.

“I don’t know who that necessarily will be,” Kinzinger went on. “I’m focusing on the country First stuff. There is a lot of desire out there for something different,” he speculated.

“But look, if Donald Trump gets the Republican nomination, there are many of us that will move heaven and earth to ensure he doesn’t win. I think that’s the most important,” Kinzinger said. “He cannot be president again.”

Kinzinger had voted against impeaching Trump for the phony Ukraine quid pro quo scandal and now conveniently claims to regret that vote in light of the recent Russia-Ukraine conflict, according to The Hill. “The bottom line, Donald Trump withheld lethal aid to Ukraine so he could use it as leverage for his campaign,” he said, though that was never confirmed.

Though many prominent Republicans have attempted to cash in on Trump’s perceived unpopularity, this will be a losing proposition. Though the establishment GOP is against Trump, the people are still with him after all of this time.
