New York Democrat politicians are pushing for more gun control in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling that outlawed their requirement for a reason to be given before concealed carry licenses will be handed out.
According to a report by Breitbart News, the state’s democrats want a scan of social media accounts to be part of the background check required before applicants can be issued a carry permit in the state of New York.
The movement is a response by the New York Democrats to the SCOTUS decision of June 23, 2022, which struck down the state’s valid cause requirement for issuing of a concealed carry permit.
Law-abiding New Yorkers who wanted to carry a gun had to demonstrate their need for a permit due to the proper reason requirement.
The Associated Press reported on Friday that New York Democrats are finding new ways to limit carry licenses with the potential new legislation.
The report stated that the Democrat plan “would require people applying for a handgun license to turn over a list of social media accounts.”

The new legislation would require applicants to demonstrate that they possess “the essential character, temperament and judgement necessary to be entrusted with a weapon and to use it only in a manner that does not endanger oneself and others.”
Democrats intend to gather data on character and judgment through a review of any social media platforms the applicant has used in the last three years.
Democrats also did their part to enact a law requiring background checks for ammunition purchases, which Governor Kathy Hochul (D) signed.

Ingram said Republican Senate candidate J.D. Vance now best represents her views for the future of Ohio.
Over the past year, more than one million voters have switched to Republican ahead of the midterms.
“Roughly 1.7 million Americans have changed their party affiliation over the past 12 months,” Fox News
“Two-thirds of those have gone to the GOP, while just 630,000 have switched to the Democratic Party, according to the report,” it added.
The new shift appears to be part of a red wave that began last year with the election of Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin in Virginia that may soon sweep across the nation.
