The Democratic Party was in trouble not long after President Joe Biden took office. However, the most recent crisis may prove their most politically damaging yet.
Voters trust Congressional Republicans over Democrats by a whopping 14 points when it comes to solving inflation, Breitbart reported. These results came from a poll of registered voters released Wednesday.
A Morning Consult/Politico survey found that 46% of respondents were confident that Republicans could “handle inflation.” By contrast, only 32% of registered voters trusted Congressional Democrats with the issue.
Because many perceive it is Democrats’ spending that has contributed to the record high, Republicans had the most significant lead on this issue. The Democratic Party has the White House and both the House and Senate meaning they are responsible for the contents — and the price tag — of everything passed into law.
Other metrics prove to be almost as challenging for Democrats. When it comes to the economy, registered voters trust Republicans 47% compared to 36% for Democrats. Independents trusted Republicans 41% to just 27% for Democrats.
On the issue of jobs, 45% of respondents trust the GOP compared to the Democratic Party at 39%. Again, independents also trusted Republicans 41% to 27% on job creation, a trend that could indicate the tide is turning solidly for Republicans heading into the 2022 midterm elections.
Moreover, Democrats have offered no useful solutions to the problems with inflation. Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) said that Democrats simply think they can “spend their way out of this” while the GOP is striving to make it better. “What we need is sound money principles, fiscal discipline, and stop electing Democrats — that’s how we target inflation,” he quipped.
This country is in economic turmoil directly because of the Democratic Party’s leadership. It will be a challenge for Biden to try to deflect from their culpability, and the upcoming midterm elections will likely be a political bloodbath for the left.
