President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden is an overgrown problem-child. Now it appears he may have escaped one particular legal mess with the help of his dad’s friends in the Secret Service.
Hunter Biden allegedly lied about his history of drug use to obtain a firearm, then was bailed out by the Secret Service when the weapon went missing, the Post Millenial reported. Hunter Biden was dishonorably discharged from the Navy Reserve for his cocaine use but answered “no” on an official purchase form.
Hunter Biden obtained the .38 revolver in 2018 and kept it in his truck. His girlfriend at the time, who is also his brother’s widow, found the weapon and tossed it into a garbage bin at a grocery store, fearing he would use it to take his life.
When he found out about what she’d done, Hunter Biden tried to retrieve the weapon but it was already gone. The owner of the grocery store called the police, who questioned Hunter Biden about the weapon and whether it was used in a crime. “Listen, it isn’t like that,” Hunter had told the officer. “I think she believes I was going to kill myself.”
As police questioned the pair, the Secret Service was reportedly leaning on the gun shop owner to hand over the Firearms Transaction Record. The dealer, Ron Palmieri, refused to do so out of concern that he’d have no recourse without the records should the weapon be used in a crime.
Both the White House and Secret Service have denied the story despite proof obtained by Politico. The Secret Service claimed the organization had “no involvement in this incident” in a statement. “President Biden did not have any knowledge of, or involvement in, the Secret Service’s alleged role in this incident, and neither he nor any family member was a protectee at that time,” a White House official said.
Still, Hunter Biden has embarrassed his father and tarnished the family’s legacy in the past. In October 2020, one of his laptops left a repair shop that contained incriminating emails about shady dealings with foreign nations and cashing in on his father’s influence.
Hunter Biden is a troubled individual, and it’s sad regardless of who his father is. However, he should not have received special treatment to avoid a felony that would put an ordinary citizen behind bars. If the report is true, the younger Biden needs to pay for his crime and the president needs to get his house in order.
