New details about the Idaho murder suspect emerge

The man accused of killing four college students in Moscow, Idaho, studied criminal justice, according to Fox News

This is one of many new details that are being learned about 28-year-old Bryan Christopher Kohberger, the man whom police have arrested on suspicion of the Nov. 13 killings of University of Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20.

According to the local outlet WPLG-TV, Kohberger is a student at Washington State University, which isn't too far from Moscow - about 15 miles.

The outlet reports:

Kohberger just completed his first semester as a PhD student in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University. He is also a teaching assistant for the university's criminal justice and criminology program, according to WSU's online directory.

Moscow Police Chief James Fry described this fact as "a little disappointing."

"That's not what we want in our profession," Fry said. "We hold ourselves to a higher standard, and we hold ourselves to an ethical standard."

Fox News has spoken to several former classmates of Kohberger's, and Fox reports, "in his home state, he was known as a genius who was socially awkward and had a tough time picking up on social cues."

Fox's report goes on to detail many negative interactions that, according to Kohberger's former classmates, Kohberger had, particularly with the opposite sex.

One of Fox's sources, who had attended high school with Kohberger, claims that Kohberger was bullied a lot, with girls saying such things to him as "go away creep" or "I don't want to hang out with you."

The source speculated, "I honestly think that's what led up to this, because he didn't get the proper help, and it was mainly females that bullied him."

According to the police, two main things led them to Kohberger: DNA evidence and the fact that he had a white Hyundai Elantra.

Kohberger was arrested on Friday at his parents' home in eastern Pennsylvania. He can be seen in photographs wearing a suicide vest.

Reports indicate that, when arrested, Kohberger asked whether he was the only person that the police have arrested, seemingly suggesting that others may have been involved in the killings. But, the Moscow police have made it clear that they believe that Kohberger acted alone.

Kohberger has been charged with four counts of murder and burglary. There are still many unknowns, and the Moscow police's investigation continues. But, authorities are confident that Kohberger is responsible for the killings.
