NBC News unsure if Fettermen understands the conversation during interview

An NBC News report on Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman noted that it wasn't clear if he understood the conversation, adding to concerns about his health just weeks before the election.

The issue was noted in an "NBC Nightly News" report on Tuesday with Dasha Burns.

"No, Lester, because of his stroke, Fetterman's campaign required closed captioning technology for this interview to essentially read our questions as we asked them," she said.

"And, Lester, in small talk before the interview, without captioning, it wasn't clear he was understanding our conversation," the report added.

Fetterman's stroke earlier in the year appears to continue impacting his health and cognitive ability. The report adds to other concerns related to his ability to speak and answer questions less than a month before the election that could make him a senator.

Republicans continue to push for Dr. Oz across the state as the two candidates battle it out, headed into a close midterm matchup.
