House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was caught on camera violating her recently implemented mask mandate, causing Republicans to question the validity of her concerns.
In a video posted by GOP War Room the House speaker is seen standing by a representative for a swearing-in photo when she was asked something by someone in the crowd.
Pelosi then removed her own mask, possibly for a photo-op, and the new representative, his wife and two children followed suit, all removing their face coverings and smiling toward the crowd.
The House speaker has garnered criticism for requiring that lawmakers go back to wearing masks, even if they are fully vaccinated, as concerns over a coronavirus variation are on the rise.
Pelosi and House minority leader Kevin McCarthy have been trading jabs, including a tweet by McCarthy where he called out the speaker’s motivation over the updated policy:
“Make no mistake—The threat of bringing masks back is not a decision based on science, but a decision conjured up by liberal government officials who want to continue to live in a perpetual pandemic state,” McCarthy tweeted.

When asked to comment on McCarthy’s accusation, Pelosi replied, “He’s such a moron,” according to CNN.
McCarthy didn’t back down, however, saying Wednesday that Pelosi is, in reality, hypocritical on the subject of masking up.
“This is no different than her telling people they couldn’t go out when she’s getting her hair done,” he told reporters, bringing back to attention Pelosi’s violation of quarantine rules when she visited a San Francisco salon for an indoor appointment while it was prohibited under California’s COVID-19 guidelines.
“Just today, I watched her in a private meeting not wearing a mask. So, do as [she says] but not as she does?” McCarthy added.
