Musical artist R. Kelly received a guilty verdict from a federal jury in New York on all nine charges he faced, including sex trafficking.
Kelly, 54, faces sentencing from 10 years to life in prison. He will remain incarcerated until his sentencing scheduled for May 4.
Kelly had pleaded “not guilty” on all counts.
The Wall Street Journal reported that five of the six women identified as victims in the indictment testified at trial. The sixth is the late singer Aaliyah.
“Today’s guilty verdict forever brands R. Kelly as a predator,” acting U.S. Attorney Jacquelyn M. Kasulis said during a news conference.
“I’ve been practicing law for 47 years. During this time, I’ve pursued many sexual predators who have committed crimes against women and children. Of all the predators that I have pursued, Mr. Kelly is the worst.” the victims’ attorney said following the R. Kelly guilty verdict.
