Multiple shootings erupt after NBA game in Milwaukee, at least 20 injured

Violence broke out on Friday night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after the Celtics and Bucks postseason game, as multiple shootings were reported within blocks of the arena where the game was played.

According to the Daily Caller, three people were injured in the first shooting that occurred after the game. Just blocks away, a second shooting incident injured yet another person, and the third shootout between two groups of people resulted in a staggering 17 injuries.

Bystanders and people nearby were able to capture some of the carnage on camera Friday night, and several videos emerged that showed massive crowds of NBA fans running for their lives down the street as they exited the arena.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “Saturday after the shooting, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson imposed a curfew from 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for people under the age of 21.”

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) released a statement after the shooting, saying he and his wife, Kathy, were “heartbroken” over what he described as a “senseless tragedy.”

The Journal Sentinel reported that, so far, 11 people have been arrested, ages 19-30. At least ten guns thought to have been used in the shootings have been seized by authorities.

“We’re going to do something about what happened here in this neighborhood last night,” Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson said at downtown’s Red Arrow Park. “It will not be tolerated.”
