Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) suggested that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) should be diagnosed with a “mental illness” over Pelosi’s support of ongoing mask mandates, according to The Hill.
The Georgia Republican’s Friday diatribe included comparing the mandate to the holocaust:
“This woman is mentally ill,” Greene said on Real America’s Voice. “You know, we can look back at a time in history when people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany. And this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about.”
While Greene’s reputation for the fantastic and over the top has not gone unnoticed by either the left or the right, her take on Pelosi’s mask mandate is not something she holds alone.
House Republicans moved to do away with the mask mandate earlier in the week but were blocked by House Democrats.
Pelosi hasn’t backed away from her COVID-19 demands, however, saying that, “We could come to a place where we say if you don’t want to wear a mask and … you’re not vaccinated, don’t even come to the floor,” Pelosi said.
Greene’s attack on Pelosi’s mental health comes on the heels of a harsh rebuke and potential fine handed down from the speaker’s office following Greene’s refusal to mask up on the House floor.
The representative posted a video to social media showing her shredding a warning she received from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“You can’t discriminate against people simply because they won’t wear a mask,” Greene said in the video. “Today, I refused to wear a mask on the House floor, and I received a warning from Speaker Pelosi that leads to fines if I continue to refuse to wear a mask.”
“Well, here’s what I think of your warning, Speaker Pelosi,” Greene added before putting the warning in the shredder
