Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) floated a scenario this week in which former President Donald Trump could become Speaker of the House and impeach President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Just The News reported. While past Speakers have been chosen from among Congress, nothing in the Constitution mandates that.
Although it would be a remote possibility, Green was pleased with the idea when pitched by “The Water Cooler” host David Brody. She said she “would love to see him bring my articles of impeachment on Joe Biden to the floor,” adding that “we can follow up with” impeachment for Vice President Harris as well.
“It’s no secret that I’m one of the biggest supporters of President Trump,” Green told the host. She said that “whether it’s Speaker of the House or running for congress or a Republican majority in ’22 electing him as Speaker of the House I’m all happy for that” as it would facilitate impeachment against the current president and vice president.
She noted that it would open the door to “move Donald J. Trump right back into the White House where I believe he belongs.” She went on to add that “of course I’m all for him running for president again in 2024,” calling Trump “the best president of my lifetime.”
This scenario was not one imagined by Brody, however. It was the brainchild of right-wing media mogul and former advisor to Trump, Steve Bannon.
When Trump was asked about Bannon’s theory by radio host Wayne Allyn Root, the former president called it “interesting,” according to The Hill. Running for Congress, winning, and passing articles of impeachment are a longshot.
However, Trump has also expressed a desire to run for president again in 2024. While Green has come under fire for many of the things she’s said, she seemed to express a common feeling among many Republicans about how great it would be to have Trump in the White House again.
