Most Americans want Blinken impeached over Hunter Biden laptop scandal

Secretary of State Antony Blinken is under heavy fire for his alleged role in constructing the memo signed by a long list of current and former U.S. intelligence experts who claimed that the Hunter Biden laptop story was of Russian origin and meant to be used as political disinformation.

According to Breitbart, in a new Rasmussen Reports poll published Tuesday, a majority of Americans indicated that they believe Blinken should be impeached, given that it has now been revealed that he lied under testimony about his contact with Hunter Biden at the time.

Breitbart noted: "Sixty percent say Blinken should be impeached, while 25 percent say no impeachment proceeding should be conducted. Fifteen percent were unsure."

The outlet added:

The poll is in reference to a congressional testimony that suggested Blinken — then a Joe Biden campaign adviser — reached out to a former CIA official and “set in motion” the false statement by 51 former intelligence officers to undermining the Post’s story as “Russian disinformation.”

After reports surfaced that Blinken was the key figure who set the memo in motion, which was signed by 51 intelligence experts at the time, the secretary of state denied any involvement.

Most recently, he spoke with Fox News reporter Benjamin Hall, saying the infamous memo "wasn’t my idea, didn’t ask for it, didn’t solicit it."

"Do you accept that the laptop is not Russian disinformation?" Hall asked in his interview with Blinken.

"Again, from my perspective, I’m not engaging in politics," Blinken responded, dodging the question and raising more eyebrows.

Breitbart noted that in a 2020 interview, Blinken "told Senate investigators he had not texted or emailed Hunter Biden."

Recently surfaced emails prove otherwise, painting Blinken in a guilty light, to say the least.

Presumably, the White House is scrambling behind the scenes to contain the issue, given that President Joe Biden just announced his 2024 presidential run, and polling numbers are still dreadfully low.

One shouldn't be shocked to see Blinken resign in the near future if the scandal continues to heat up, as the White House will undoubtedly not want one of its top officials in the Cabinet to face the possibility of an impeachment trial.
