A group of moderate Democrats have expressed concern about the future of its party as the left sees a surge in radical progressives running for Congress.

The New Democrat Coalition, consisting of 98 members of the House, shared the warning in a recent communication.

“A strong center is the key to our governing majority and our battleground members are an important line of defense against extremist control of Congress,” New Hampshire Democratic Rep. Ann M. Kuster, the New Democrats’ vice chair for communications, said.

“As we look ahead, we must continue to embrace the growth of moderate members,” she added.

The concern continues to grow as the midterm elections show Democrats expect heavy losses in the House.

In addition, a growing number of Democratic candidates are embracing radical platforms that include everything from Medicare for All to full-on socialism.

The future of the Democrats is at stake, and many in the party know it. The problem is what to do to change the concerning radical shift that threatens to destroy the party.
