Melania Trump launches NFT venture with eye toward charitable giving

After spending much of 2021 out of the limelight, former first lady Melania Trump has made the decision to return to the public eye by launching a social media-heavy initiative in support of her new, non-fungible token (NFT) that takes the form of a digital painting, known as “Melania’s Vision,” as Fox Business reports.

In announcing the campaign, Mrs. Trump declared, “I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavor, which embodies my passion for the arts, and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative,” a reference to the public awareness push she promoted during her time in the White House.

A video posted to Instagram promoting the NFT shows artist Marc-Antoine Coulon completing the sketch of Trump’s piercing blue eyes and teases the availability of the token’s offering, which draws to a close on December 31, 2021.

As the Miami Herald notes, the NFT also includes audio in which Mrs. Trump states, “My vision is, look forward with inspiration, strength and courage,” and a description of the NFT package entices prospective buyers by declaring, “[Coulon’s] breathtaking watercolor embodies Melania Trump’s cobalt blue eyes, providing the collector with an amulet to inspire.”

A percentage of the proceeds earned from sales of the token will be directed toward Trump’s philanthropy aimed at improving the lives of underprivileged kids.

“Melania Trump’s personal journey has been enlightening; from Slovenia through Europe and into the United States of America – including as first lady,” explains the official NFT description, which adds, “The beauty and hardships of individuals, majestic landscapes and profound architecture have entered her lens and remain in her heart.”

Emphasizing that a percentage of the sale proceeds from the NFT will be directed toward Mrs. Trump’s charitable efforts aimed at helping underprivileged youth, the offering’s website asserts, “During her time as first lady, Melania Trump focused her ‘Be Best’ initiative on the importance of social, emotional and physical health of children.”

Continuing to “advocate for child welfare and for improving the lives and well-being of children, including children in foster care,” Mrs. Trump is already planning to unveil another NFT offering in the new year, with a Jan. 4 preview and a Jan. 11 live date, with others to follow later, suggesting that Mrs. Trump’s return to the spotlight for the benefit of others may be far from temporary.
