House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) implication that she may be making moves to invoke the 25th amendment in order to remove Donald Trump rocked the nation last week, but White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was unphased by the comments.
McEnany fired back at Pelosi that instead of questioning President Trump’s health and implying that he is unfit for office, Pelosi herself is the one that is a better candidate for removal.
McEnany said in a Friday appearance on Fox & Friends that Pelosi is “projecting” when she questions Trump’s mental fitness and called Pelosi’s support of legislation that would establish a House commission on presidential fitness “absurd.”
“That’s an absurd proposition from Nancy Pelosi. The only one who needs to be looking at the 25th amendment is Nancy Pelosi herself,” McEnany told the hosts.
The top Trump aide pointed to a recent “bizarre” incident in which Pelosi appeared to “glitch” during a TV appearance while speaking about the upcoming confirmation hearings for SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett.
“So maybe she’s projecting here because the 25th amendment, no reason for it to be considered with the president of the United States but maybe for Nancy Pelosi herself,” McEnany blazed.
Nancy Pelosi appears to be increasingly desperate to undermine Trump as the election approaches, speculating on multiple occasions that medications Trump received during his battle with COVID-19 may be altering his judgment.
Pelosi claimed last week:
The 25th Amendment creates a path for preserving stability if a president suffers a crippling physical or mental problem and is un — quote — in the amendment — “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office and transfers his powers.
“Specifically, Section 4 of the Amendment empowers Congress to set up an independent body to confront such a crisis,” Pelosi continued, seemingly alluding to a potential plot to unseat Trump based on his health.
