White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany called out Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot during her Thursday press briefing, calling Lightfoot the “derelict Mayor of Chicago” for not controlling the spiraling violence in her city.
Lightfoot tried to snap back by calling McEnany a “Karen” and warning her to “watch her mouth,” but McEnany isn’t one to let a Democrat like Lightfoot have the last word.
“While you‘re focused on words, America is outraged by the violence perpetuated in your city,” McEnany fired back on Twitter. “One person is taking action to stop violence in our streets: President @realDonaldTrump.“
“He’s offered your city help. It’s a dereliction of duty not to take it.”

Chicago has experienced some of the worst violence in it’s recorded history this summer, and Lightfoot’s response is to lash out at the Trump administration instead of protecting the safety of the residents of her city.
The same day Lightfoot was tweeting at Kayleigh McEnany, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that two people were killed and 15 more were injured across the city, including a 5-month old baby boy and two teenagers.
Lightfoot has repeatedly flouted President Trump’s offers to meet with city leaders to discuss options to control the violence.
