The 2020 presidential election handed the government over to Democrats to have their way with the country’s future. However, the midterm elections could change all of that.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell confirmed rumors that Republicans can block President Joe Biden’s radical agenda by retaking Congress in 2022, Breitbart reported. The Kentucky Republican said voters could stop the administration from implementing policies that are “not a good idea for the country.”
McConnell was speaking Thursday at the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce when he noted the importance of regaining a majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate. “Do they really want a moderate administration or not?” he said, advocating not so much for Republican policies but at least for a way to make Biden back off of the leftism.
“If the House and Senate were to return to Republican hands, that doesn’t mean nothing happens,” McConnell said. “What I want you to know is if I become the majority leader again, it’s not for stopping everything. It’s for stopping the worst,” he said.
“It’s for stopping things that fundamentally push the country into a direction that at least my party feels is not a good idea for the country,” McConnell continued. “And I could make sure Biden makes his promise … to be a moderate.”
During the previous election cycle, the GOP closed in on Democrats in the House leaving House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with the slimmest majority in recent memory. The Senate is even closer and currently split 50-50 meaning that Vice President Kamala Harris’s tie-breaker vote essentially gives the governing body the majority but one vote.
The incumbent party is typically at a disadvantage in the midterm elections anyway, but Democrats face real trouble if Biden’s approval ratings continue to dip, according to Fox News. Threats to the Democratic majority also from the continued popularity of former President Donald Trump who can drive turnout with an endorsement.
Democrats are not even trying to hide their desire to push the country radically leftward with social issues, economic issues, and environmental issues. McConnell is right that they can and must be stopped by a GOP sweep in Congress in the midterm elections — for the sake of America’s future.
