House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was outspoken about President Donald Trump’s reluctance to concede the 2020 presidential election. Now that it’s about her party, she’s singing a different tune.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) charged Pelosi with attempting to “overturn a state-certified election,” Breitbart reported. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) was already been sworn into office with the new Congress earlier this year after beating her Democratic opponent by six votes.
“I remember distant days long, long ago, way back through the mists of time, when Democrats said it would be wrong for Washington to overturn a state-certified election result,” McConnell said from the floor of the Senate Thursday. “No, wait a minute. That was two months ago,” he quipped.
“Two months ago, every Democrat, cable news channel, and every liberal news channel was melting down over some Republicans’ efforts to dispute state-certified election results here in congress,” he continued, referencing Trump’s obstinance about accepting November’s results. “I opposed those efforts myself.”
McConnell went on to outline how Pelosi has challenged the Iowa results from the halls of Congress rather than in the courts where it would be appropriate. “Right now, as we speak, Speaker Pelosi and Washington Democrats are literally trying to overturn a state-certified election here in Congress. That’s exactly what they’re doing over in the House right now,” he charged.
“The voters of Iowa’s second district spoke in November,” McConnell continued. “They counted the votes. They recounted the votes. The outcome was certified,” McConnell pointed out.
Democrats don’t care about election integrity, they only care about power.

“Iowans in the Second District know Mariannette Miller-Meeks is their rightful Congresswoman,” a press release from Kollin Crompton, communications director for the Republican Party of Iowa, said. “She won on election day, won the recount, and was certified the winner, even by Democrats.” That should close the matter except for Pelosi’s unwillingness to accept it.
Pelosi and the Democrats are used to getting their own way and will throw a tantrum when they don’t. If she wants to challenge election results, she needs to do so in court — but she likely realizes it’s moot. For all the energy she spent accusing Trump of overturning an election, he was bringing his issues to court and walked away when it was clear the challenge was over. Pelosi should do the same.
