'MASH' actress Eileen Saki passes away at 79

Eileen Saki, known as Rosie on "MASH," died at the age of 79.

Saki passed away following a battle with cancer, according to her family.

Her background

"Saki’s career in Hollywood spanned decades, with her first big role landing on the Primetime Emmy-winning show that focused on the lives of Army hospital staff stationed during the Korean War," the Daily Wire reported.

"Fans will remember the actress for her appearance on a handful of episodes where her character was the owner of the self-titled 'Rosie’s Bar,' TMZ noted. Saki took over the role from two previous actresses," it added.

The report

"Eileen passed away just two months after being diagnosed with Advanced Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer," her husband Bob Borgen said.

"Eileen passed away just two months after being diagnosed with Advanced Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer," he continued.

Her manager Camilla Fluxman Pines also confirmed her death in a statement to People.

"Eileen Saki passed away peacefully in Los Angeles yesterday, May 1st," Pines said. "She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January."

"She was a lung cancer survivor in 2004," she added. "She got a second chance at auditioning and working in the industry that she loved so much — she shot a couple big commercials shortly before her diagnosis."

"She was often recognized by face or even just voice by people who knew they knew her 'from somewhere' — and loved talking to young actors about the journey."

"MASH Matters" podcast hosts Jeff Maxwell and Ryahn Patrik also shared their condolences at the announcement of her death in a Twitter post.

"On behalf of her husband Bob, we extend sincere appreciation for the hundreds of M*A*S*H fans who filled Eileen's final days with peace, encouragement, and love," they wrote. "She read every email and responded to as many as she could."

Saki made her last appearance on television in an appearance during an Uber Eats commercial featuring Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald. She will forever be known as a key member of "MASH" by her fans, leaving behind years of television that deeply impacted a generation and will continue to impact lives for years into the future through her work.
