The irrational hatred for former President Donald Trump has created a lucrative industry for opportunists with an ax to grind against him. Unfortunately, one of them is his own niece.
Mary Trump said she thinks her uncle “should be indicted” and “not be free to go on national television” based on his past assertions about the 2020 presidential election being rigged, Breitbart reported. The former president’s niece has a history of cashing on family gossip, beginning with a 2020 tell-all book.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell” Monday, the host asked Mary Trump about what she thought of her uncle’s demeanor during a recent interview with Piers Morgan. She took this easy setup as another opportunity to bash her family member.
“I actually saw another clip from that, and the first thing I see it is another failure of the circumstances in which we are living. Donald should not be in a position to be sitting for interviews like this,” Mary Trump said.
“He should be indicted. He should be in depositions. He should not be free to go on national television,” she asserted.
“I’m not even sure where Piers Morgan’s interview was being shown. But he should not be in a position to get on any significant platform and petal his lies about a stolen election,” Mary Trump said. “The only person trying to steal that election was him and his significant number of sycophants and enablers,” she concluded.
Her book, “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,” was published in July 2020, ahead of the contentious election. It appears from a Washington Post review of the work that Mary Trump wielded her credentials as a psychologist to take potshots at her famous uncle and smear her extended family.
It’s difficult to see any merit in her assessment of the former president’s right to be a free man from this source. Mary Trump’s only qualification is being a disgruntled family member who has been elevated to fame by the rabidly anti-Donald Trump left.
