The federal government could be going after terrorists, illegal immigrants, or spies trying to steal America’s secrets. Instead, they’re out to get parents who speak up at school board meetings.
Conservative commentator Mark Levin is calling out President Joe Biden’s effort to “chill free speech” using the Justice Department, PJ Media reported. Last month, the government labeled concerned parents “domestic terrorists.”
The author and talk radio host read a scathing letter from non-profit America First Legal that laid out the government’s nefarious plans. “The federal government is using its power to silence and intimidate American citizens,” Levin said Thursday. “They’re trying to chill free speech.”
The letter from AFL charges that “the Department of Justice is committing the full weight of its federal law enforcement resources to prevent parents from exercising constitutionally-protected rights and privileges, for inappropriate partisan purposes.” The organization believes the Biden administration is colluding with the teachers’ unions and other power players.
The AFL also believes clandestine meetings have been happening for some time to “develop a plan to use a letter from an outside group as pretext for federal action to chill, deter, and discourage parents from exercising their constitutional rights and privileges.” A memo from Attorney General Merrick Garland shortly preceded a letter last month that became the impetus for mobilization.
Parents have been speaking out against controversial Critical Race Theory curriculums and mask mandates at school board meetings. The left doesn’t like any pushback and the AFL feels the Biden administration is using this excuse as a way to tamp it down.
Schools have been infiltrated by CRT throughout the U.S. including elite institutions, according to Fox News. The idea is a Trojan Horse, however, coming into schools as an anti-discrimination curriculum that actually divides students — and that’s what parents object to.
Regardless of the merits of CRT or mask mandates, parents have a constitutional right to speak out on behalf of their own children’s education and welfare. It’s unconscionable that the U.S. government is actively trying to criminalize that very natural right.
