Comedian Bill Maher may be a liberal, but he is not on board with every aspect of his fellow liberals’ agenda.
The Daily Caller reports that Maher recently spoke out against the use of such things as puberty blockers in pediatrics.
Maher did so during the monologue of Friday’s broadcast of his HBO show Real Time. There, he argued that, with such things as puberty blockers, “we’re literally experimenting on children.”
“And, it’s okay to ask questions about something that’s very new and involves children,” Maher said. “The answer can’t always be that someone from a marginalized community is automatically right — ‘trump card, mic drop, end of discussion’ — because we’re literally experimenting on children.”
Maher, during the monologue, raised concerns about the use of puberty blockers, noting that “we just don’t know much about the long-term effects.”
“Common sense should tell you that when you reverse the course of raging hormones, there’s going to be problems,” Maher said before identifying some of those problems, such as poor bone density development and fertility.
After citing statistics that show that there has been an astronomical increase in people identifying as LGBT, Maher argued that it is only natural for teenagers and young adults to do so since it is rebellious and “trendy.”
Maher has already earned criticism from the left for this monologue.
He is still a die-hard liberal – he even lauded so-called gay rights during the monologue. But, especially recently, he has shown a willingness to speak out against some aspects of the left’s agenda, aspects that are too radical for even him.
