Liz Cheney weighs in on possible presidential bid

Anti-Trump Republican Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) just hinted at her presidential ambitions, Breitbart News reports.

Cheney did so during an appearance Thursday on CNN’s Don Lemon Tonight. At one point during the interview, Cheney was asked, “do you think voters in the U.S. are ready for a woman to run things?”

Cheney replied, “sure.”

Then, Cheney was asked, “based on that, do you think your — do you think your father Dick Cheney wants Liz Cheney to run for president in 2024?”

“Dick Cheney is a big Liz Cheney supporter. I can say that,” Cheney replied.

Cheney was then asked, once again, whether her father is encouraging her to run for the U.S. presidency. She answered:

Listen, I talk to him every day about many things, and certainly his concern — look, like, I am right now — he’s really focused on this moment and on what’s happening. Both of us have just this real sadness, frankly, about what’s happening to our party and a real despair about how could it be that so many Republicans would refuse to stand up and tell the truth. And it is a scary moment for the nation.

This follows another recent interview on CNN during which Cheney said she has “not made a decision about 2024.”

The one thing Cheney is not doing is denying that she has presidential ambitions in 2024, and that’s probably because she does.

In the more immediate future, the question is whether Cheney is going to survive re-election in Wyoming. She is facing off against Harriet Hagman, who has the endorsement of former President Donald Trump. The primary will take place on August 16.
