Liz Cheney thrown out of Wyoming Republican Party, her career is over

GOP voters are tired of Republicans in name only who side with Democrats every chance they get. For years they’ve simply put up with them — until now.

The Wyoming Republican Party has voted to disown RINO Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY), Breitbart reported. The party’s state committee voted 31-29 to “no longer recognize Cheney as a Republican.”

The embattled Republican sloughed it off even as a third of the state’s 23 counties, however. “It’s laughable to suggest Liz is anything but a committed conservative Republican,” Cheney spokesman Jeremy Adler told The Hill.

“She is bound by her oath to the Constitution. Sadly, a portion of the Wyoming GOP leadership has abandoned that fundamental principle, and instead allowed themselves to be held hostage to the lies of a dangerous and irrational man,” Adler said referring to former President Donald Trump, whom Cheney sided against during the Democrat-led impeachment effort.

Cheney made herself a target because of her crusade against Trump, culminating with her vote to impeach the former president after the incursion at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, according to the New York Post. In May, she was replaced as chair of the House Republican Conference by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), who was more supportive Trump.

Losing her party’s support may be the first of many hurdles Cheney will face in her bid for re-election in 2022. She is facing a formidable opponent in Harriet Hageman, a 2018 gubernatorial candidate, attorney, and candidate whom Trump endorsed, according to the Casper Star-Tribune.

“It’s fitting because Liz Cheney stopped recognizing what Wyomingites care about a long time ago,” Hageman said in a statement. “When she launched her war against President Trump, she completely broke with where we are as a state.”

Many believe Trump was a mixed bag of pros and cons for the Republican Party. However, his greatest accomplishment seems to be flushing out the left-leaning Republicans and forcing the mealy-mouthed politicians to finally take a stand — even if it means their own ouster.
