Lifelong Democrats are switching parties in Ohio and nationwide, with one mother making the change after her son was shot to death in front of their home in 2019.
Erica Ingram, a Democrat, lost her 24-year-old son in a shooting death. She claims the party no longer has compassion.
“I can see him having compassion as to where the Democrats don’t have no compassion,” she said. “They’re, like, weak. They don’t fight hard enough as to where the Republicans get up there and they pull out all stops.”
“She believes Democrats are not taking spikes in crimes here, and across the country, seriously enough,” she added.
Ingram said Republican Senate candidate J.D. Vance now best represents her views for the future of Ohio.
Over the past year, more than one million voters have switched to Republican ahead of the midterms.
“Roughly 1.7 million Americans have changed their party affiliation over the past 12 months,” Fox News reported.
“Two-thirds of those have gone to the GOP, while just 630,000 have switched to the Democratic Party, according to the report,” it added.
The new shift appears to be part of a red wave that began last year with the election of Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin in Virginia that may soon sweep across the nation.
