Legendary Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen violently attacked outside hotel

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen, a legend in the music business, had a frightening encounter recently outside of a Florida hotel room.

According to Breitbart, the legendary percussionist, who lost an arm in a 1984 vehicle accident, was taking a smoke break outside of Four Seasons on Fort Lauderdale Beach when a 19-year-old thug violently attacked him.

The alleged attacker, Max Edward Hartley, visiting from Ohio, charged Allen from behind. He was reportedly hiding behind a pillar nearby.

A woman who ran out to help Allen was also violently attacked, according to a police report.

"While she is on the ground, the defendant continues to batter her by striking her. [She] attempts to escape by running into the hotel. The defendant then grabs [her] by her hair and drags her out of the lobby and back onto the sidewalk before fleeing the area," 7NewsMiami reported.

"-Def Leppard Drummer Rick Allen Suffers Head Injury in Florida Sneak Attack by Teenager Max Edward Hartley, 19 ✔️(Let me guess, a leftist PUNK), visiting Florida and reportedly on spring break, was arrested and charged with two counts of battery, four counts of criminal mischief," on Twitter user wrote.

Luckily, before he could hurt anyone else, local police tracked Hartley down to a nearby parking lot where he was reportedly breaking out car windows. He was quickly arrested.

On Tuesday, the alleged attacker bailed out of Broward County Jail after being charged with "two counts of battery, four counts of criminal mischief, and abusing an elderly or disabled adult."

Upon his release, a 7News Miami photographer approached the teen and asked what possessed him to attack a one-armed, elderly man.

"Max, are you a Def Leppard fan?" the photographer asked. Hartley didn't respond.

The Def Leppard drummer confirmed in a statement to police at the time that he intends to prosecute Hartley. However, as of this writing, his media relations office hasn't added a comment.

"Max Hartley needs to spend two years in jail and ten years on probation, and maybe he won't ever do another sneak attack," a Twitter user wrote.

Imagine what level of coward one must be to attack someone in Allen's condition. What a shame.
