Leftists working to end Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett's book deal

The left routinely attempts to silence those on the right. However, they've taken it to new heights when it comes to Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett's book deal.

More than 500 members of the literary community signed a letter petitioning Penguin Random House to nix Barrett's forthcoming book, TheBlaze reported. They cited her decision to overturn Roe v. Wade to cancel the $2 million deal.

The open letter included members of the press, freelance writers, and publishers. It also included employees from Random House, Barnes and Noble, HarperCollins, and even "Rick and Morty" screenwriter Erica Rosbe.

The letter paid lip service to the idea of free speech. Nevertheless, the signatories were adamant that Coney Barrett's book should not see the light of day.

"We recognize that harm is done to a democracy not only in the form of censorship but also in the form of assault on inalienable human rights," the letter said. "As such, we are calling on Penguin Random House to recognize its own history and corporate responsibility commitments by reevaluating its decision to move forward with publishing Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s forthcoming book."

The letter also said that Coney Barrett should be punished for "inflicting her own religious and moral agenda" on the nation. Ironically, it accused her of violating "international human rights" by protecting the unborn.

The missive further insisted the book was not in line with the publisher’s Code of Conduct. “This is not just a book that we disagree with, and we are not calling for censorship," the letter stated.

"Many of us work daily with books we find disagreeable to our personal politics. Rather, this is a case where a corporation has privately funded the destruction of human rights with obscene profits," the screed went on.

Speaking for the group, the blogger @publishersbrunch told Publishers Weekly that this was unequivocally political. "With the midterms coming up, and the 2024 election looming, the group decided it was time to make a statement," the blogger said.

"We cannot, and will not, amplify the voices of extremists (like Amy Coney Barrett) who would gladly take away the rights of millions of Americans if given the chance. I'm extremely proud to see the responses thus far and hope that this action encourages others in the industry to speak out!"

This is not he first time Coney Barrett has been specifically targeted for her opinions in court. The justice's fellow alumni attempted to have her removed from the Rhodes Hall of Fame at her alma mater, Rhodes College, in August following the landmark decision for the unborn, the Washington Examiner reported.

The left isn't even pretending to hide its bias anymore. Coney Barrett is just the latest to face their wrath for simply being a conservative.
