Kremlin insiders reveal Putin's limousine may have been bombed as part of a failed assassination attempt

Russian President Vladimir Putin is unpopular because of his decision to invade Ukraine. Now, it looks as though he may be a marked man in his own nation.

Kremlin insiders claim Putin's limousine was possibly bombed in a failed assassination attempt, according to The Sun. Sources say there was a "loud bang" followed by "heavy smoke" near the left front tire of his vehicle, but nobody was hurt.

The Russian president was traveling in a motorcade of armed vehicles when it happened. "On the way to the residence, a few kilometers away, the first escort car was blocked by an ambulance, [and] the second escort car drove around without stopping [due to the] sudden obstacle, and during the detour of the obstacle," SVR General, a Russian resistance channel on Telegram, claimed.

In the car carrying Putin, a "loud bang sounded from the left front wheel followed by heavy smoke." Then, "despite the problems with control," Putin's vehicle made it to safety.

"Subsequently, the body of a man was found driving [the] ambulance, which blocked the first car from the motorcade," the report added. However, there is no indication of where or when this incident occurred to verify any of these claims.

According to the Telegram channel, the leader of Putin's "bodyguard [service] and several other people have been suspended and are in custody," claimed without naming names. "A narrow circle of people knew about the movement of the president in this cortege, and all of them were from the presidential security service."

"After the incident, three of them disappeared," the channel claimed. "These were exactly the people who were in the first car of the motorcade. Their fate is currently unknown," it said.

"The car on which they were traveling was found empty a few kilometers from the incident." If true, this follows a similar pattern of others close to Putin who have disappeared or been involved in accidental deaths.

Putin's war against Ukraine has turned the world against him. Perhaps he's not safe in his own nation either.
