Kinzinger says DOJ pursuing Trump 'pretty hard'

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said that the Justice Department is going after former President Donald Trump "pretty hard."

Kinzinger made the comments during an interview on Sunday on ABC's "This Week" regarding the Jan. 6 committee's work.

"I take a lot of pride in two things, number one, our mandate is to tell the American truth, come up with fixes," Kinzinger said.

"I know that my kid and I know that, you know, the craziest conspiracy theories kid in ten years is going to believe that it was Donald Trump that started January 6th, so all these conspiracies today will go away, largely because of the work we’ve done. I also know that the Justice Department appears to be pursuing this pretty hard," he added.

The comments come as the committee seeks to finish up its work and hand off the investigation to the Justice Department.

Kinzinger and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the two Republicans on the committee, will both be out of Congress after this term. Kinzinger chose not to run again while Cheney lost in her state's GOP primary.
