Killer exonerated by Fetterman-backed district attorney wanted for murder

After being released from jail by the Conviction Integrity Unit of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner's (D) office, which has the support of Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman, a convicted murderer is now wanted for another homicide.

According to a report by Breitbart News, Jahmir Harris, 32, was convicted of murder in 2021 and sentenced to eight years in jail, but Krasner's Conviction Integrity Unit was able to convince the judge to overturn the verdict.

Harris was found guilty of shooting 45-year-old Louis Porter in the head in a Philadelphia parking lot two days before Christmas 2012, in front of his 5-year-old son. Prosecutors claim that Porter was killed by Harris because of a $3,900 drug debt.

Krasner's Conviction Integrity Unit, which Fetterman has referred to as a "model" for the rest of Pennsylvania, assisted in having Harris's conviction overturned last year, leading to his release from jail.

Following allegations that he was involved in the shooting death of 50-year-old Charles Gossett last month, Harris is now sought by Philadelphia police.

Fetterman has long praised Krasner's Conviction Integrity Unit and argued that the practice should be expanded statewide to aid in the release of prisoners. He is currently running against Republican Mehmet Oz for the state's open United States Senate seat.

Oz spokeswoman Brittany Yanick said that Fetterman was largely to blame for Harris's prison release last year and, consequently, Gossett's murder.

"John Fetterman praised Larry Krasner and his Conviction Integrity Unit, saying this type of organization is needed in every county in Pennsylvania," Yanick said. "Now, this group and John Fetterman are responsible for releasing a convicted murderer who is wanted in yet another tragic murder."

"When will this senseless violence stop? The answer is never if John Fetterman gets his way," Yanick continued. "He wants to release one-third of Pennsylvania's inmate population, continue pardoning convicted murderers, and let violent criminals run our streets. That's too extreme for the U.S. Senate and downright deadly for Pennsylvania."
