Kevin McCarthy suggests removing Adam Schiff from Congress following Durham report release

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) suggested removing Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) following the release of the Durham report.

The report, released on Monday, states that the FBI's probe of former President Donald Trump should not have occurred due to a lack of evidence.

The report

"In a 300-plus page report that became public on Monday following a four-year investigation, Durham cited the FBI and the Justice Department for launching a bogus investigation into the 2016 campaign of then-GOP nominee Donald Trump without justification," the Conservative Brief reported.

"His report also noted that the campaign of Hillary Clinton was heavily involved in creating the false narrative that Trump’s campaign was 'colluding' with Russia to interfere in the election," he added.

McCarthy's response

“You remember when he told the American people he had proof? Remember when he told him he didn’t know the whistleblower and what he put America through and openly lied to us? And now it’s proven in this as well," McCarthy said.

“It raises a lot of questions about his character, his standing inside of Congress, or whether he should even be in Congress,” he added.

McCarthy is not alone in wanting Schiff removed from Congress over his role in the Russian collusion probe hoax. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) expressed her support for Schiff's removal from office.

"Knowingly using your position on House Intel to push a lie that ripped apart our country, cost taxpayers millions of dollars, and authorized spying on a US President and then proceeding to double down on the lie within days of the Durham report coming out makes you unfit for office. Ethics should investigate," she tweeted.

The longtime issues with Schiff targeting the former president are now coming back to cause problems for the congressman as details are released.

The report could also create problems for Schiff even if he doesn't face removal from Congress as he'll face questions on the issue in his run for reelection.

The new suggestion by McCarthy shows that Republicans are still fired up about the Durham report findings and hope to see consequences for those who were involved in the 2016 hoax.
