Kamala Harris’s spokesperson and senior advisor Symone Sanders resigns, latest Harris staffer to jump ship

Despite efforts to contain the damage to her image, it’s clear that Vice President Kamala Harris is as unpopular and unlikeable as ever. Now her own team is abandoning her one by one.

Symone Sanders, chief spokesperson and senior adviser for Harris, announced Wednesday that she will leave the administration in the new year, CNN reported. This makes Sanders the second top advisor to the vice president to depart in recent weeks.

“I’m so grateful to the VP for her vote of confidence from the very beginning and the opportunity to see what can be unburdened by what has been,” Sanders said in a letter to her co-workers announcing her exit. “I’m grateful for [chief of staff Tina Flournoy] and her leadership and her confidence as well,” she added.

“Every day, I arrived to the White House complex knowing our work made a tangible difference for Americans. I am immensely grateful and will miss working for her and with all of you,” Sanders added.

Sanders is a seasoned political strategist who served as national press secretary for Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) during his 2016 presidential run. She also was a CNN political analyst and most recently had joined as a senior adviser to Biden during his 2020 presidential campaign before moving over to Harris.

This latest departure comes just weeks after Harris’s communications director, Ashley Etienne, left for “other opportunities.” These vague niceties used to describe personnel changes may be hiding the deep dysfunction that inside sources allege pervades the administration.

There is also a rumored rift between Harris and President Joe Biden and some are speculating that she may be ousted before 2024, Fox News reported. White House press secretary Jen Psaki has denied problems exist between the two, but all signs point to an administration in turmoil.

Harris was a failure when she ran her own presidential campaign, and she hasn’t done much better since being named vice president. Casual observers can see how incompetent and how awful she is, but the real trouble has begun now that the people around her are leaving in droves.
