Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Germany this week to take part in the Munich Security Conference.
Harris will arrive as the U.S. and European nations closely watch Russia’s presence along the Ukraine border as tensions of invasion increase. More than 100,000 Russian troops are currently stationed along Ukraine’s border.
“Her presence there is a big deal,” said one ally close to the White House, according to The Hill.
“It sends a message that she’s at the heart of these major foreign policy issues,” the source added.
