Vice President Kamala Harris is supposed to be addressing the burgeoning crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. Unfortunately, she can’t even deign to make a visit.
A video shared by TV News HQ showed the moment Harris ignored questions from the media about her unwillingness to visit the southern border. President Joe Biden tasked Harris with figuring out how to deal with the surge a month ago but she’s yet to see it for herself, according to Fox News.

Since Biden’s election, there has been an influx of immigrants with 172,000 migrants entering the country in March alone — and that’s just the ones the Border Patrol caught. There are also many unaccompanied minors who pose their own set of challenges with housing and caring for minors.
In one facility in Donna, Texas, 500 children were crowded together — during a pandemic — and crammed into plexiglass rooms built for 32, according to the Washington Times. The children had only mats with foil blankets to sleep on in terrible conditions that a Republican administration would be hung out to dry over.
The Biden administration has tried to explain the problem away by citing the seasonal ebb and flow of illegal immigration. Harris has also said her strategy for dealing with the influx is getting to the root causes of poverty and climate change that she claims is spurring on the increase.
It seems she’s philosophizing rather than dealing with the actual crisis in front of her — maybe because it isn’t in front of her as she’ll go just about anywhere but the southern border. On Friday, she visited New Hampshire to tout the Biden administration’s $2 trillion infrastructure bill. This led Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz to quip, “GPS got confused…” in a tweet.

Even more insulting than her absence is what she’s sending in her place. A new Long Beach, California shelter will hand out Harris’ 2019 children’s book that apparently has arrived in her place. Her book, “Superheroes Are Everywhere,” will be part of welcome kits handed to incoming migrant children.
There are so many issues the Biden administration is already bungling, but none so awfully as the border crisis. Democratic administrations are always in favor of porous borders, but the humanitarian crisis it’s causing is remarkable — and Harris can’t even be bothered seeing it for herself.
